On May 26, 1926, seven young, strong-bodied Swedes held a meeting. All of them had recently arrived ion the United States, and all of them had an inherent love for sports. The purpose of their meeting was to form a club, a club where they and other Swedish immigrants could come together and engage in the various athletic activities which had become such an important part of daily life.

The Viking Athletic Association would like to congratulate Aivars (Freddy) Kuplis for being inducted into the Illinois Soccer Hall Of Fame for his dedication to Illinois Soccer.
Freddy is a Lfe Member of the Vikings and served on the Vikings Board of Directors for many years. Freddy comes to all our games, and supports the Viking AA; this is a proud day for our club

Other Vikings who in the Illinois Soccer Hall of Fame:
Jocke Johansson - Manager, player in the 40's and 50's; he managed the Viking team that won the 1946 U.S. Open Cup.
Geoff Coombes - Viking player and member of the 1950 U.S. national team squad that beat England in the World Cup. He also played for the Viking 1946 United States Open Cup winning side.
Nels Dahlquist - Club member, long time referee at national level.
Davey Huson - A member of the Chicago Sting team that won the North American Soccer League (NASL) title in 1981. He played and co-managed the Vikings First Team with Paul Keenan and also played for the Over-30s.
